Men's Club

Men’s Club of Adat Shalom is an energetic intergenerational organization that is part of The Federation of Jewish Men’s Club, with 234 Men’s member groups throughout the United States, Canada, England, Santiago, Chile and most recently Mumbai  and New Dehli, India.  Known by its call letters, FJMC, the organization was formulated in 1928 with a mission to keep men connected to Judaism and their respective shuls through camaraderie, Tikun Olam, Mitzvot, Tefillah (prayer), study of Torah and service to their synagogue and the Jewish community at large.  The West Los Angeles Jewish Organization, later to be known as Adat Shalom, joined the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs in 1945, 63 years ago and is still going strong. Our programs and activities include:

Social Action 

·         Mitzvah projects

·         Participation with Adat Shalom Community projects and initiatives

 

Learning 

·         Participation in Educational Programs including organization  planning, event planning,

          marketing and fundraising at our Western Regional Training workshops and our

          Men’s Club conventions

·         World Wide Wrap, a morning dedicated to Tefillin by Men’s Club Minyan

·         Hearing Men’s Voices Invited Speaker Series

·         Wellness Program

·         Keruv –Interfaith relationships

·         Shomrei Habretz (Stewards of the Land) – Climate change, energy conservation and

          other environmental stewardship issues

·         Sustainable Energy – best practices for home, business and other organizations

 

Family Events 

·         Annual Snow trip to Mount Baldy

·         Comedy Night

·         Annual Picnic for the entire congregation

·         Annual Marina Cruise and Picnic at Burton Chase Park in Marina Del Rey

Ritual 

·         Ushers on Shabbat and High Holy Days

Fun 

·         Poker Night

·         Men’s Night Out

Through camaraderie and interaction with other men, where age makes no difference.  Men coming together and learning from one another.
