USY
Our youth groups provide opportunities for teens and pre teens to meet new friends and form long lasting social bonds. Kids participate in informal social, educational, religious and social action activities. Kadima (grades 4-6) meets monthly at Adat Shalom for programs and lounge nights. Activities typically include games, arts and crafts, holiday celebrations and social time. During social time, kids do homework, read, talk, and have fun with friends.
USY (grades 7 -12) holds several events each month including lounge nights, Saturday night fun events and weekend trips. The programs are planned by our USY board, which is elected by the group members each year. Adat Shalom often hosts USY groups from other synagogues for Shabbatons and participates in away-from-home activities with other regional groups in southern California. Recent participants hosted by Adat Shalom have come from as far as Arizona and Nevada.
Kadima and USY are affiliated with the United Synagogue Youth, Far West Region and we participate in local and regional programs and events.
Please join us in the youth lounge! Membership is open to the entire congregation in grades 4 – 12. Stop by for some pizza, play ping pong and hang out when you have a chance! For more information about the USY or how to join, please contact David Nusbaum at adatshalomusy@hotmail.com
