Bar/Bat Mitzvah
As part of the religious school program at Adat Shalom’s Jewish Education Center, each child is prepared to be called to the Torah as a way of marking the time that they reach the age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah. The Bar/Bat Mitzvah experience recognizes that the child has learned a great deal and is invited to continue in the life of the congregation as an adult as he or she grows and continues to connect to Judaism and the Jewish people.
At Adat Shalom, each family has a special relationship with Rabbi Lefkowitz, and they work together in anticipation of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration that is personal to the child and the whole family. The Bar/Bat Mitzvah is carefully planned to understand a child’s interests and abilities and make it a positive and meaningful experience. Rabbi Lefkowitz believes that the Simcha (celebration) should create a wonderful foundational stone to help forge each child’s adult Jewish identity.
Please contact the office for more details and to reserve a date for your child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
